According to scientific research, as the world population increases, natural habitats suffer which creates a negative impact on everyone. Sustainability is a trend that focuses on reversing and preventing further impact. Sustainability promotes a controlled use of natural resources by encouraging the use of resources that regenerate quickly as opposed to ones that may become extinct from overuse.

Within the building industry, The Clement Group has experienced the trend of sustainability through green building.  Green Building, also known as green construction or sustainable building, is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle according to the EPA.

Through the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEED program has been developed to encourage sustainable design and construction.  LEED is a voluntary certification program that can be applied to any building if it meets certain criteria. Professionals can also become LEED accredited.

The Clement Group has been awarded multiple projects with the USACE over the past twelve months requiring achievement of LEED Silver. The Clement Group typically utilizes the services of a LEED AP from the design team to head up the LEED process on our D/B projects. However, our PMs and other personnel are familiar with the requirement for achieving LEED status on Federal projects and are accustomed to working to ensure that all requirements are met. Some of our most recent projects including LEED requirements include the following:

  • Chapel Center, Ft. Rucker, AL $5,857,425
  • TEMF, Ft. Leavenworth, KS $7,483,373
  • MP Battalion TEMF, Ft. Riley, KS $12,328,107
